Classically trained, Airi is Wild Water's heartbeat. His drumming technique appears to encompass his whole body - not just hands and feet! This is most likely to be a product of Airi's Papua New Guinea heritage rather than his formal studies. After graduating from the Northern Territory University School of Music, Airi won a Young Australian of the Year Award, for his work with the Darwin Symphony Orchestra, the PNG Community Cultural Association and other musical and arts groups.
Airi has toured extensively with the Pacific percussion ensemble - Drum Drum. Recently he visited the Solomon Islands, on a Churchill Fellowship, to explore their traditional rhythms.
